V.I.B.
It’s a mark of my inattentiveness that I almost let this whole big one year anniversary pass me by! Today is the Pawcurious One Year Anniversary! One year ago today, I shared the story of the dog who pulled my shirt down in pursuit of 100% client satisfaction and my life hasn’t been the same since. What a year it’s been!
Let’s see, what has happened in this momentous year on the blog?
1. Emmett died
2. Callie disappeared
3. Guinea pig died
OK, that is seriously depressing. Let’s focus on:
1. Brody came into my life!
2. Apollo did NOT die
3. Met an amazing community of animal lovers as nutty about their pets as I am!
Ahhh, much better.
And how am I celebrating this monumental occasion? I’m in my pajamas, watching Joan Rivers’ Grammy Fashion Police while eating Girl Scout cookies, staring in horror and fascination at her plasticine face. My husband is on a business trip, the kids are in bed, and I’m alone with my thoughts.
I told a colleague today all about the blog and how much fun it was, hoping to impress her with my harnessing of the powers of the internet for the greater good of animal-kind.
“Awesome!” she said, staring at her Blackberry. “Is that like my Facebook page?”
Earlier in the day, a person had walked up 30 minutes before opening with a blocked cat. My technician assessed the cat, telling the owner that although she wasn’t a doctor it was sure looking like a block, and what his options were likely going to be. She ended with giving him the option of waiting for the doctor or going to our local 24 hour referral facility, which would be able to keep the cat on fluids 24 hours a day and might be a better choice for an emergency such as this one.
“Thank you,” said the client.
“You’re welcome,” said the tech.
“I was being facetious,” replied the client. “You suck.” Then he left. Still trying to figure that one out.
Nothing like a little reality to keep you humble. Happy anniversary to me, non-entity crappy queen vet of suckage. May my interactions with real life one day rival that of those online.
