can we make sure the money goes directly to roxy? i feel so bad seeing that she has been there for quite a while...wondering if the money could go towards her being fostered in a real home to get her out of the shelter for a while? just trying to think creatively.

My dog is a therapy dog and we read with at-risk kids in our local schools. For Daisy's birthday, we always donate pet-related books to the school and to the kids we read with. We hope it helps educate future dog owners!

Oh poor Roxy, I'm gonna' cry! She is beautiful and looks really sweet. Lambchop was 1/2 pit (1/2 beagle) and a really good boy.

Happy Birthday Brody! xoxo and licks, wags and woofs from Starlet

Thanks Tonya! I was glad to be in the rare position to have some bucks floating around to do something for once. I decided once my journey with Kane is done, because he is either adopted finally or goes to Kevin someday (sniff), I think I'll try to always sponsor one dog (with a modest monthly donation). I kinda wanna vacation at Dog Town, but I know I'll end up coming home with a buddy I shouldnt've just now. :-)

I adopted a "Roxy" one time and it was the best decision I ever made. :) My vets even agreed... "you will never have another dog like her" ..She was the light of my life for 9 years and I miss her dearly every day. We can't adopt them all, but perhaps our donations can make help to make their lives better...

That is an awesome story! Too many times, I find myself in that same situation when I let myself look. You are an inpiration, and even though I don't "know" you, I appreciate you!

As Dr. V knows, I had a similar experience a few weeks ago when I got my little furry girl groomed and it was shelter day at the groomer. I usually don't look....but this time, there was this hound dog mix, Kane, who just reached out and squeezed my heart. He had that resigned look like, I'm just gonna lay here while all the little cute dogs get the love. I learned that his story is quite sad- he and his brother, after a year in the shelter (the only no kill in Vegas), were finally adopted. Six months later, Kane was picked up on the interstate, headed "home" to heaven can wait sanctuary, paws all torn up and bleeding. His humans had abandoned him- phones all disconnected, moved with no forwarding address. Honestly, Sir Kane is not my type. But yet something about him.... and still I truly cannot take a dog in right now, but man, I cried my heart out for a few days. I sought Dr. V's wise counsel and she said, Look, it's a no kill shelter. He's okay. He clearly loves his current digs as he went back there. Make a donation, you'll feel better. And she was so very right. I made a $500 directed donation for Kane with money put aside towards a surround sound in my new house. The shelter keeps me updated on Kane, and I feel alittle better being his benefactor. I dropped some stuffed animals and treats off for him last week and my heart was a little lighter. When Life Can't Wait, Donate. It made me feel fuzzy.
