Top 10 Pawcurious Posts for 2010
With only one day left in the year, it’s time to dust off the old archives and pull out my favorite posts from the last 12 months. These represent the best, or just the most fun, of what we do here.
So without further ado and in no particular order, here are my choices for the Top 10 Posts of the Year:
There’s One in Every Office: A Pet Doctor Barbie Post
It’s not that often I make myself laugh out loud with my own posts, but something about the Wicked Witch shoving the broom in the Barbie’s face makes me lose it every time. Probably because I remember experiencing the real-life person all too well. Pet Doctor Barbie is my all time favorite category here. I need to make a New Year’s Resolution to do more of them in 2011.
The Concert of the Year
I planned for Koa to be Lady Gaga for two months leading up to Halloween. Initially I was going to go for the studded bikini outfit, but when Gaga showed up in a flank steak dress I knew I had my outfit. Brody was a toss up right until the last minute- I couldn’t decide between Bret Michaels or Justin Bieber. I think I made the right decision.
Little Earthquakes
2010 hasn’t exactly been the best year for my family. I lost both of my grandmothers, two women who were so fundamental to who I am. I miss them every day. This is my tribute to my maternal grandmother, Mary.
Rules of Engagement
At BlogPaws West in September, I was plucked out of the audience at random by Mike Arms to read a terrible, tear jerking letter from a shelter worker about the awful reality of his job. I can’t say I relished the actual snivelling job I did up on the podium, but it gave me the chance to meet with Mike, take a tour of the Helen Woodward Animal Center afterwards, and get energized about the chance to use blogging and social media to make a real difference in the coming years.
The Usual Suspects
It’s not perhaps my finest post, but it’s one of my favorites because this- this is the essence of Brody and his antics. Fortunately the half-eaten carcass never appeared again after that day.
Baking with Brody: Frosty Paws
In 2010 I introduced the Pawcurean and the Baking with Brody segments. Of all the involved recipes I came up with, by far the most popular was this Frosty Paws-type recipe I got from Linda at the 7MSN Ranch.
Tumbleweeds
On the one year anniversary of Emmett’s passing, I invited people to send in pictures of their departed pets for a tribute to all the creatures we are still missing with all our hearts.
Iron Chef Pawcurious
The annual Blogathon stunt this year involved a bag of World’s Best Cat Litter, olive oil, and a banana. Chaos ensues.
Real Tails from the Vet Clinic
Like everyone and their mom, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to jump on the Xtranormal bandwagon and make a video about life in the clinic. My conversation with a client about her vomiting dog lives on in clinic legend and lore to this day.
Rescue Stories
Of course any retrospective about the year has to contain mention of our newest addition to the family, the sweet and gentle Koa. I introduced her to the blog with the help of Pet Doctor Barbie.
It’s a Wonderfur Life
OK, so my Top 10 is really a Top 11. I couldn’t help it. It’s not the most highly rated entry, not even in the top 20, but “It’s a Wonderfur Life” may very well be my sentimental favorite for post of the year.
Did I miss one? Let me know in the comments. Better yet, for all of you with blogs, share your own favorites from the year on your own blog and post the link below! We can do a Best Of Blog Hop!
