Wordy Wednesday- oops
I had about 4 hours to kill at the Dayton airport yesterday, which I had planned to spend writing a post for today. Unfortunately about 2 seconds after the shuttle dropped us off I realized that in my reverie I left my laptop on the bus. Then Chad, one of the fantastic Paine PR team members, realized his Blackberry was also on the shuttle.
Susi, my fellow blogger over at KnobNotes who did not leave anything on the shuttle, was kind enough to capture this dramatic footage of us bemoaning our stupidity. I actually thought it was really kind of Chad to leave something behind just so I wouldn’t feel so alone in doing so.
Anyway, kudos to the entire Iams/Eukanuba team, of whom I believe every single member got a panicked text and/or phone message trying to track down the shuttle driver, who then gamely got back on the freeway in rush hour traffic to deliver the abandoned goods. I owe Dennis the driver a fruit basket for that one and the entire Iams team a standing ovation for tracking him down.
So needless to say, sometimes things like 4 hour waits at the airport happen for a reason.
THEN, with computer stapled to my body, I got into Chicago and boarded my connection, only to have the pilot get on and say, “…..zzzz….er, hi folks, seems we have a big old problem here…..one of our maintenance crew found some damage to the plane…..he found a crack, actually…..so this plane is out of service.”
No one likes to hear their plane has a crack in it, but really, the only thing worse than finding out your plane has a crack while sitting on the tarmac is finding out your plane has a crack while flying at 35,000 feet, so I was relieved they found it. But that was another 2 hour delay. I then couldn’t write a post on the plane because I was too busy looking for cracks the whole way home.
I got in at 1 am PST, after getting up at 7 am EST. Which translates into 21 hour day if my math is correct.
So anyway, this is why I have a late post today, but I hope you agree I have a good explanation.
