Giveaway Tuesday: a very special souvenir

Yes, for my big Africa trip I have a giveaway Tuesday item from the trip. I don’t know what it is yet, since I haven’t bought it, but I’ll make sure it;s an actual item from Tanzania and not something from the duty free shop at the airport on the way home.

(I was so pleased to finally have a reason to drag my Zoo Vet Barbie out of the garage. I think I will have some adventures for her when I get back, no?)

To enter, you simply guess what is the first cool African mammal I will see on the trip. Don’t be clever and say ‘human’, I mean, will it be a rhino, or a warthog, or what. To assist you in this, I will tell you that we have one night in the main town of Arusha before flying to chimp camp so it is likely we will see something before seeing the chimps.

I will choose the winner from the correct guesses when I get back!

    I just looked up Arusha and discovered that a city very near me is one of its sister cities. Who knew?

    Anyway, I’m gonna guess hyena. Obviously I have zero clue! ;-)

    My guess is that it will be an Elephant’s Child, O Best Beloved. (I would have said a Bi-Coloured Python Rock Snake, but that’s not a mammal, of course.)

      Oh! Maybe it will be a Kolokolo Bird! But of course that wouldn’t be a mammal, either. Bummer. However I have to mention it so that I can tell you that translated into Greek, this would be an Assass Bird. Hee!

    I agree with Rwan. Probably a stray dog. But I would say the first “cool” mammel will be a monkey.

    My guess is the colobus monkey. According to this site (http://www.monkeyfacts.org/chimpanzee_monkey/chimpanzee_monkey.html) chimps are not monkeys. And yes, I had to look it up first. So nice to see Zoo Vet Barbie (wave). Have a wonderful time!

    I’m guessing you’ll see a baboon first, either chilling on the side of the road or crossing the road. They’re generally not afraid of the cars (or people for that matter!).
