Good to know

December 3, 2009 by Dr. V

Those ornaments we were hanging on the lobby Christmas tree were glass. I really did think they were plastic.

I am so very grateful to Brody for smashing one on the ground and sampling its shardy goodness on behalf of dogs everywhere, so we knew in advance before unleashing them on the general public. Way to take one for the team there Brode.

I’m even more grateful to the tech who heard the ornament shatter and tackled him, sticking her hand down his throat to sweep out any offending bits before I even realized what was going on.

It’s like having a human toddler, except worse.

LOL. Well no offense to humans, but I would rather have 5 dogs than one child!

I’m just grateful my dogs never ventured towards the Christmas tree except to lay underneath it among the presents. Hopefully Brody will stay away from glass ornaments!

Are you sure he wasn’t just trying to get a new pair of balls? HIYOOOOOOOOOO!

Oh Brody, you are into everything aren’t you. So happy to hear he’s okay, how scary! Kudos to the (superhero) tech who came to the rescue!

Yes, we are about to experience Finn’s first Christmas tree. Considering he thinks all balls are his to shred it should be interesting…

BIG KUDOS to the tech who saved Brody from a tummy full of ornament shards! phew! He likes to keep things interesting all the time, doesn’t he?! Glad to hear he’s okay!

Sometimes I really think Brody and Akira are related, even though he is a Golden and she a Husky. She LOVES to get in to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING… including eating two collars. We learned our lesson finally, after the 2nd time ,to not let her wear her collar while we leave her home alone in her crate. The collar then becomes food… how she got the things off to even eat to begin with, baffles me!

This was Akira’s first Christmas Tree, as we didn’t put one up last year, because we were in the middle of dealing with sick Chase then. So needless to say, all of the nice ornaments are at the top of the tree. It actually makes me go crazy with how bare the bottom of the tree is, but better safe than sorry! My luck she would find the plastic ones to play with still, but eat the hooks. Sigh!

I never knew how blessed i was to have a black lab (they’re more intelligent than Golden’s right…lol), that chews everything but spits it out instead of actually swallowing it. Of course, I dont think that would apply to glass of course! Also, there was that incident in her first year with the rat poison. I guess we know where the explosive diarrhea is coming from. Good luck!

Why do I feel like Brody should have the “Mission Impossible” theme tune playing in the background at all times?

    (Your tech is awesome btw!)

I must admit that reading about Brody’s misadventures makes me feel better about the fact that my dog has made multiple emergency vet trips in the eight months we’ve had him–the joys of puppyhood.
