Three euthanasias on Monday. That’s more than I did in the entire previous month.
All were the right thing to do, pets with terrible disease, but I don’t think I will ever get used to the morbid regularity with which the Christmas Death Spiral ruins my holiday cheer. Bah! Humbug!
On a happier note, we are having the work holiday party on Saturday and I am pretty sure I am going to win the Ugly Ornament contest. I can’t show you what I got yet since some of my co-workers read this blog, but it’s AWESOME. Better than the pink flamingo. Better than the ugly hermit crab. Better than the mermaid Village People cop ornament (though that was a close second.)

That is ASTOUNDING. Thank you, madam, you just made my day. I cannot wait to see what you have that can top that!

Sorry about the rough week. Your ornament sounds AWESOME. Must see photos.
AND I received my Brody calendars today. LOVE LOVE and more LOVE. Thanks for putting the time and effort into it.

So the severed head looking thing below the mermaid ornament….THAT was creepy. I had some people looking over my shoulder here at work going “WHAT is that???”
*shudder*

If your ornament beats the ones on that link, I can’t wait to see it. Sounds like a grim reaper with a Santa hat sounds appropriate. So sorry to hear that the death spiral has started.

So, why is it that so many euthanasias and pet deaths happen at the holidays? I recall that from my days at the CSU Vet hospital.
I hope you post a pic of your ornament after the fact! Sounds like a fun contest!

We’ve seen more cancer in the last 3 weeks than the previous 3 months. Just a couple days ago I palpated an abdominal mass in a 12-year-old golden, sweet as can be. About 3/4 the size of a basketball on rads, hanging right out between the spleen and the liver. 🙁 And then there’s the mast cell tumor, and the mammary tumor, and…
Maybe Kevin is the opposite of a bear and comes out of hibernation during the winter?

They should change the lyrics of the ‘purple people eater’ song to “Kevin is a beady-eyed, one-horned, sneaky no-good puppy eater”
