Start your engines: Blogathon 2010 is coming!!

November 8, 2010 by Dr. V

Can you believe it? I can’t believe it. It’s only 6 days until Blogathon 2010, Bigger and Better than Ever. I hope you all are going to be around this weekend, because there is going to be a whole lotta stuff for you to check out!

If you’re new to the blog, you couldn’t have picked a better time to come on in. Saturday is the Second Annual 24 posts in 24 hours Blogathon, and it’s going to be a blast! For you, at least. For me it is going to be exhausting and insane, but also a blast.

The Summary

Over the next few days I’ll be letting you all in on what’s going to be happening, because there is just too much for one post. I know. I can barely contain my excitement. There are going to be EIGHT- yes, an OCTET of AWESOME- each blogging for 24 hours straight. (OK, one painting and the other seven blogging, but close enough.) That is 192 posts in one day. I usually do 20 posts a month.

I have selected the person for whom I will be fundraising- Bradyn Ferguson, as I mentioned in a prior post. I’ll post more about him later in the week. I will be joined by three other bloggers in raising funds for Bradyn’s service dog. The other 4 bloggers have selected fantastic groups that are meaningful to them, which will be posted here as well as on their blogs.

The Prizes

Just like last year, there will be some incredible giveaways happening at random times throughout the day. There are no financial requirements in order to be eligible for the giveaways- they are open to everyone who comes and comments! While I do have a fundraising goal, I know times are hard and there is no obligation to donate in order to join in the fun.

But Dr. V, didn’t you eat dog food live on the web last year?

Yes. Yes, I did. And this year I’m eating something even worse. It’s all for a good cause. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

So come on down on Saturday, I’ll be here! And tell your friends, tell your neighbors- it’s a virtual block party and all are invited! If you have any burning questions to ask or topics you really want me to post about, this is a good time to make requests.

Something worse?! Cat food? Gerbil food pellets? A raw marrow bone?! I’m so intrigued! I also feel that I should start rumors around the internetz. “Did you hear Dr. V is going to eat Fancy Feast on a cracker for the Blogathon?” *shudder*

I have not forgotten about the shoes you mentioned wearing at Blogpaws, so I think it might be fun to actually SEE those shoes during the Blogathon this weekend. (hint, hint) And more on-topic, we need an Apollo fix. We don’t see nearly enough of that awesome cat!
I have been looking forward to this! Can’t wait!

Go for it! It would be a nice “pre” treat for yourself… to gear up for the icky stuff you plan on eating! ;-D

I have it easy for my blogathon – just going to give away beads. Probably while eating chocolate…..

Getting excited too! I’m doing a scavenger hunt (well, 4 of them) for biscuits.

Are we getting a sneak peak of the beads? I will wear my beautiful Lambchop bead for extra great energy! Oh and maybe I’ll eat chocolate too. : )

What? Eating chocolate and getting pedicures is helpful for the Blogathon? I will get right on it. (Ignoring the eating gross things comments. I did hear that Dr. V is eating Fancy Feast on a cracker tho!)

Can I wear my new Victoria’s Secret to the knee slippers and does anyone mind if I drink my Amaretto while commenting? I’ll share, I promise (virtual share that is). Best wishes on a successful blogathon. Arooo from me and GiorgioMaltese.

I did a double take there because I actually have an Aunt Christina in real life, and I thought, “well, that’s a visual!” LOL. Please do, slippers and drinks are welcome.

OK. I’m getting some Ustream.tv music acts lined up. Well, trying to. Am I being volunteered for catfood on a cracker or would anyone rather me sing? Not sure if I’d be solo or not. Might be able to get FooFoo to join me again but she’s not been singing much lately.
