Holy cannoli spicy guacamole

February 2, 2011 by Dr. V

To steal my 4 year old son’s favorite saying.

It’s been TWO YEARS since I started this blog! Two years since my inaugural post about the dog who pulled my shirt down in front of the surly bulldog owner, and it’s been downhill ever since.

Lots of things have changed, the passages of life we all deal with when we have animal companions, hellos and goodbyes and the like.

2 years!

Even those things that remain the same have evolved over time, my children growing up and teaching me about myself, the stories from others deepening my understanding of the human-animal bond.

Starting the blog was like casting a net over open ocean hoping to catch a couple sardines, and netting a blue whale. Which subsequently pulled me overboard.

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I put pawcurious out there, but I figured it would be a one way conduit for me to speak my mind, a bully pulpit for whatever I decided to take on for the day. I had no idea it would be a doorway to a network of animal lovers all over the world, from all walks of life. It’s pulled me further from my small comfort zone of veterinary medicine and dumped me into the far greater world of people who love animals, in all capacities.

It’s challenged me and strengthened me and made me a better person, a better advocate, a stronger voice. Every time I put something out there, I get so much more back, and that, I never expected.

I’d like for this to be a year of Bigger, to reach even more and try harder to make a bigger difference. I need to figure out a fundraiser so that I can do a volunteer trip with a group like World Vets or Amazon Cares. I need to work on Brody’s jumping. So much to do, and so little time with which to do it.

Thank you for everyone who is coming along for the ride and making it an epic, endless roadtrip. You guys are the best!

Happy Anniversary, Dr. V!! I haven’t been with you since the beginning, but I certainly love being with you every morning now. I don’t follow a lot of blogs, but I think, like many others who follow Pawcurious, we get more out of it than we normally expect from a blog. I can’t wait to see what’s coming in the next year!

Two years! Congrats! I am a huge animal lover (especially dogs) and this is the one blog that I look forward to coming to every day. I read others, but Pawcurious is such a great mix of new information, happiness, hilarity, vet info, pet antics in general, product reviews… I could go on and on! Thanks so much for all the hard work you put into this endevour (sp?) – I don’t know how you fit work, 2 kids, 3 animals, a husband and then this blog into it all! And I can tell you do all of it very well. Again, congrats and THANK YOU!! 🙂

Picnik, via Flickr. Super cheap to get the “pro” account and lots of neat effects to make it looks like you spent hours messing with Photoshop. That effect was one click.

The blog wouldn’t be so successful if it didn’t have an intelligent, funny, imaginative creator behind it; who mixes humor, thoughtfulness, heart, frankness and goofiness so that opening the page is always an anticipation. Happy anniversary and keep on truckin’!

as a fellow retriever owner, I think you have a better chance of raising a billion dollars to get to the volunteer project before you can make progress on the jumping…but if anyone can do it. 😉 Congrats on a great year.
