Catch Me if You Can

September 5, 2011 by Dr. V

So what do you do when the surf is too dangerous to practice your surf technique?

Raise mayhem, of course.

SurfDog1

Start by acting all sweet and cute.

Then, you take off.

Make sure you really tear the place up. You’re conspicuous enough in that hot pink rashguard, Mom won’t lose you.

Rub up on people. They like that.

As much as possible. After all, you are a Golden.

Because eventually, Mom will catch you. (Yes, that was a hardcore tackle.)

And she will leash you.

You will be sad.

But hopefully you can still chill in the water for a little bit, if you’re good.

And you will gloat.

I <3 Brodes

Because you know your mom is powerless to your cuteness.

And it is a gorgeous Labor Day weekend.

Great way to salvage the day at the beach! Thanks so much for sharing the great pics – everyone should have that much fun. And the vintage look pic of the beach a the end – that was beautiful! Makes me want to go there!

Who wouldn’t love a big, fluffy dog running at them on the beach? 🙂

      I know, right? Especially there.

Is the running up to strangers and leaning on them a Golden thing? We had the same thing happen during our vacation. Of course I didn’t mind – in fact I loved it – but I just wondered if that’s a breed quirk.

It’s been with every Golden I’ve known. Total leaners. 🙂

Why the rashguard? To prevent sunburn? Or just to be able to spot him in the crowd? btw, Dr. V., you look fab!

Eukanuba sent us both fly pink rashguards for the surf dog a thon so we’ll be stylish, but I really love how much easier it is to spot him if he wears it to dog beach so I left it on for practice. Last time we were at Dog Beach with a Golden Retriever meetup group and that was all sort of nutso trying to find him.

Love it! You and Brody look like “official” California surfer dudes! 🙂 I guess you would be a dudette.

Just how do you deal with the sand in the coat afterwards? (I assume that you drive and not walk to the beach.) I can deal with the lake and creek mud, just find a “clean” spot for a quick rise.

Fortunately there is a little hose-off station beyond the sand, in the grassy area. Then I cover the back of the truck in a huge blanket and deal with it later. 🙂

Beautiful photos! Makes me miss San Diego 🙁 Looks like a gorgeous day on the beach (and what’s not to love about a golden in a hot pink rashguard??)
