Biscuits by Lambchop Giveaway 2 is live!
Scavenger Hunt 2 is Live! For the clues and details, check out the Biscuits by Lambchop facebook page and follow the instructions you find there. From Annette: "This is near and dear to my heart because Lambchop used to get seizures, so I know how upsetting that is and how not knowing when it will happen can be so worrisome. Bradyn will be so much safer if his family, and as he grows - he himself, would be if he had a dog that could warn them when a seizure is coming on." Truer words were ... Read more »

So while I'm slaving away over an open bag of cat litter, feel free to peruse the site and tell me which collar you would like. Or donate to Bradyn! Or both!! ... Read more »
5 Insider Tips for Picking Pet Insurance
People ask me about pet insurance all the time. And I honestly don't always know what to tell them. From my perspective, it's fantastic: I don't have to do anything, except maybe fill out a short form, and in return I see more pets getting the care they need. People who actually have pet insurance, however, tell different stories. Some companies rival human insurance companies when it comes to red tape navigation; others reimburse pennies on the dollar spent. Still others are actually very ... Read more »

The heart dog post: it never goes away
It's funny how grief works, isn't it? After my grandmother died, I was devastated. But I also felt kind of numb- her illness had been going on for so long, and her suffering so great, that it was both a blessing and a terrible sadness to see her go. I was in the card section of the store looking for something to give to my grandfather. I can't figure out how a piece of paper could possibly contain a lifetime of memories, envelop what she has meant to me in a piece of cardboard that I then ... Read more »
What is agility? And can any dog really play?
I love Dr. V's idea: Blog-a-Thon! and I'm happy to be able to contribute in a small way to the greater good - and really it's a super cause. Let's all raise lots of money for Bradyn!!! My post will be in two parts - first: What is agility? And secondly I'll speak to the question of "is agility really for ALL dogs". Murphy over a double-jump. You may have seen dog agility on TV - perhaps on ESPN's incredible dog challenge - or maybe even part of a national event such as the ... Read more »
Giveaway: Calming Collars
From random.org, comment number 7 wins! Don't worry, there is one more chance to win coming up later!! Deb Mendez has been a supporter since the early days of the blog. Her all natural calming collar was clicked on Koa for the first 3 months she lived with us. Hers was a lower level anxiety, fortunately, and when she was wearing the collar at work she would quietly slip under a desk and snooze. Anxiety is a big problem in dogs, and like many things, there is no one-size-fits-all ... Read more »
Cost-savers: Generic meds
Piggybacking on Dr. Kay's post about the perils of price shopping, I did want to share a better way to try and save money at the vet: medications. There are lots of good reasons for getting your medications from the vet, but the number one is convenience. You have the meds in hand when you leave. The other reason, one often given by vets who don't want to write a prescription, is that you don't know where some of these online pharmacies have obtained their meds. This is true. Some may have ... Read more »
Fetching Tags Giveaway
I want a Boston terrier. There is a Boston terrier available for rescue at my favorite local rescue. That never happens (it's a retriever rescue). My husband thinks it's a terrible idea (for the record, he said the same about Koa.) I am sure this dog won't be available for very long, so I have a very short window of time to convince him that we should at least meet her and see if she is a good fit. Did you see her face? Her FACE?? *squish* I need your help to convince him. My argument is ... Read more »

I survived another Mike Arms letter
Who dares to enter the Chamber of Secrets not once, but twice? I am clearly insane. I just back from reading a letter on the Helen Woodward Animal Center annual telethon, which although is technically not related to the blogathon was such a good cause I couldn't say no. I think my husband recorded the telethon so I will try and figure out a way if we can get a copy of the letter reading (not that I want to see it myself). They actually misplaced the letter temporarily so I was sitting ... Read more »

Telethon is on!
I am about to go live on the air in San Diego and read a letter in support of the Helen Woodward telethon. It's not the same letter as the last one, it's a different letter. My emotions are already on overload from the blogathon so you can trust me that any sort of teariness will be genuine. It's easy to get me going. Which is why I am grateful I never had brothers growing up. So hopefully I can make it through the entire thing this time, and not make a total idiot of myself in front of Diane ... Read more »
