It’s getting hot in here

July 18, 2012 by Dr. V

I went out for a run on Monday and left Brody at home. He was not thrilled, but I saw we had some extreme heat advisories in place for the day and I was worried that even starting at 7:30, it would be too hot. When I began, it was 82 degrees in the parking lot. When I finished two hours later, emerging onto the asphalt even as some ill advised people were just heading out, it was 102. And some of them had dogs with them. I'm a fan- obviously- of being active with your dog. That is a good ... Read more »

Crabby Con

July 13, 2012 by Dr. V

My husband loves Comic-Con, which if you don't know is a yearly event here in San Diego in which an ever increasing number of people ranging from normal to deranged descend upon San Diego for the weekend. It started out as a comics thing, but it's expanded and exploded to a Hollywood event with TV stars, movie stars, and famous authors appearing for insanely crowded panel sessions on such topics as "Creating the Dothraki language" and a meet and greet with the guy who plays Masuka on ... Happy Fourth of July! Let’s sing.

July 4, 2012 by Dr. V

I just couldn't bring myself to do yet another "Holiday Safety Tips" post. We have limited fireworks in California, so the sound isn't usually a big deal, and the dogs are pretty good at seeking out shade when it gets warm, but man, the food stealing is going to forever be the Achilles heel in ... Shelter Drive-By Update

June 29, 2012 by Dr. V

Back in May, I featured a guest post from Kristine Lacoste over at Pets Adviser about her experiences doing a shelter drive-by. Today, she's back with an update on how it's started a bit of a chain reaction. See how easy it is? Be part of the revolution!   A few weeks have passed since I first started doing the shelter drive-by.  I was happy to learn just the very next week two small girls appeared with bags of cat litter at my shelter, and the shelter was thrilled to see more ... Giveaway Tuesday: End Cat Boredom!

June 26, 2012 by Dr. V

Easier said than done, right? How do you motivate a couch catato to get their keister off the ottoman and go run around? If you have a surefire trick, well, patent it, because the rest of us have to keep trying new things. Friskies is on a mission to help with their "End Cat Boredom" campaign, which albeit tongue in cheek addresses a real issue. In support of the campaign, they are offering some Boredom Buster kits, and by some I mean FIFTY, to you guys. Which is awesome, right? The kits ... Read more »
