2011 Last Minute Holiday Gift Guide

December 21, 2011 by Dr. V

It’s not too late to grab some last minute goodies for your pup if you’re like me and still scrambling to get things together between now and Sunday! If you’re still looking for some ideas or stocking stuffers, here are the products I’m featuring this morning with Santa on Fox 5 San Diego’s morning segment:

1. Halo Liv-a-Littles all-natural treats

Freeze-dried treats are the perfect choice for those who like an all-natural, no filler sort of treat. Just freeze-dried chicken, salmon, or beef with no added sugars or grains. These are also a good choice for a training treat! Available at Petco and other large pet retailers.Ā

2. K9 Cakery Bone shaped peanut butter cake mix

For those who like to include their dog in their holiday baking plans, K9 Cakery makes it easy with this peanut butter cake kit that contains the cake mix, a foil shaped bone pan, and dog-friendly yogurt frosting. Just add eggs, oil, and water! Available online at K9Cakery.com.

3. Tagg, the Pet Tracker

If you have a dog who bolts every time the door cracks open, the holidays can be a particularly stressful time. The Tagg tracker utilizes mobile phone and GPS technologies to alert you via e-mail or text if your pet leaves a designated area, and allows you to track their current location online or with your smart phone. Available online at pettracker.com.

4. Drinkwell 360 Drinking Fountain

If your dog or cat winds up on the naughty list because they’ve been drinking out of the toilet, the Drinkwell may be just the solution. Providing aeration and filtration can encourage picky pets to drink more water, which is essential for good health. Available at Petco, PetSmart and most large pet retailers.

5. Hol-EE roller tug and treat ball

Combining the fun of a rolly ball with the durability of a tug toy, the Hole-EE roller tug-and-treat ball is a good choice for active chewers who may be rough on traditional soft toys. In addition, the holes allow you to stuff the toy with treats for added fun. Available at Petco, PetSmart, and other pet retailers.

6. Petflect reflective safety system vest, collar and leash kit

Lots of us find ourselves up very early or very late walking the dog, and being on the side of the road in low light can be dangerous for you and your dog. The Petflect reflective safety system contains a reflective leash, collar, AND a fluorescent vest to make sure you are noticed from up to 500 feet away when you are out and about. Available online and at Lowe’s.

Stay tuned as I’m going to be doing several giveaways in the next few days leading up to the holiday! First one this afternoon!

Any other must-haves I’m leaving out? What are you getting for your pet for the holiday?

This year my two are getting bully sticks, tracheas and ligaments from Best Bully Sticks. Last year they got a bully stick “shishkabob” with dried organs speared on it. They loved it though The Fiancee was less than impressed…

I might also make them some cookies; I have a great book: “The organic dog biscuit cookbook”. When I was unemployed a couple years ago and didn’t know what to get anyone for the holidays, The Fiancee made cookies for all the humans in the family and I made biscuits for all the canines…

Clyde is getting some bully sticks and (thanks to you) the reflective set you listed here! I love this. I have several reflective gear items that he wears when we walk but nothing as all-encompassing as that set. It is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Thanks!

So far they just have a whole lot of tennis balls for their stockings šŸ™‚ We’re going to go shopping for them tonight though. And i’m definitely going to look for the Hole-EE roller tug-and-treat ball! and I think i’ll make them some treats as well šŸ™‚

I love Hol-EE roller treat balls. They keep my dogs busy but my dogs are getting better at taking the treats out. I might need to find new one!

My kids each got the Tagg. I still need to set them up and add them to collars (not much good without that) but I’m excited to have them.
