Remember that Staples back to school commercial, the one where the dad was riding a cart around the store to “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year?” That was me.
The sad, dejected faces dragging around behind him? Not my kids. They like school.
Brody, on the other hand…Brody is sad. He’s lost his summertime playmates to the double whammy of school, plus homework and extracurricular activities. Having me around is OK, but it’s not the same as the kids. And if your dog is anything like mine, he too may be in the doldrums this autumn.
I’m doing what I can- walks when I’m home, extra attention, but it doesn’t negate the fact that he had lots of people around all summer and now he doesn’t. So I turn to the next best thing: distraction. Putting his breakfast in a busy ball, that sort of thing. We’re watching his calories lately, but being mindful of how to compensate his regular food for the addition of a treat here and there I can also work in the occasional mind occupying treat.
In honor of Back to School time and bored dogs everywhere, I’m doing a giveaway this week from Purina Busy, full of all sorts of treats to get your dog’s mind off his downtime. Extra treats = extra walks, win-win for you both.
An embroidered bag filled with all the goodies you see above: Purina Busy treats for your dog in bunches of flavors, water for you, and poop bags for that walk you just promised you’d do when you get home from school. That should get you through football season, at the least.
You can enter by leaving a comment, tweeting, and/or liking the pawcurious page on Facebook. Details are in the widget below. Due to shipping restrictions, this giveaway is US only. Good luck! Giveaway ends on September 11th.
My dog could use it! She needs distraction, with less attention lately she has taken to barking more!
My dogs Niki and Rico always get into more mischief when they have too much alone time.

Wish I could go back to school for what I want, but herniated disc in neck is preventing me
I don’t mind school — I get to go!! But this giveaway looks pretty good to me! Yum!
My best buds are in school all day! I miss them! I love when I hear the school bus!

Back to school is always a bittersweet time, but at least it means cooler weather is on the way to Florida soon.

Yay!! Too funny because I have just gotten back into the back to school routine. My kids are happy to go back, and my dogs get to stay inside more and hang out with me as I work on my book and they’ve gotten extra walks and training sessions since then. P.S. They LOVE Busy Bones!

I’m looking forward to back to school. It gives me a little more time with the pets and the kids are excited to see their friends and teachers again.
I retired, so I am home more with our golden retriever Lucy. That’s good since we lost her companion Desi to hemangiosarcoma in July. These treats might help her feel a little less lonely.

My dog would love these!
I just got a puppy. She’s BUSY!!!! The two year old dog luvs her. The 10 yr old is playing grumpy old man! LOL!

I am and am not looking forward to it. Homework and the accompanied nagging for example.

Looking forward to school, not so much the waking up early part, though. The kids had fun picking out supplies, outfits next! My picky doggy will have fun trying the different treats and deciding which are acceptable, and if none are found suitable, all the doggies in my rotation (I pet sit) will enjoy a nibble!

I think the only way “back to school” effects me anymore is that it means the end of Summer is near. 🙁

I look forward to going back to school because I’m student teaching this semester. After 20 years in the same field, I reinvented myself and I’m nearing the finish line now.

So much traffic !! But it is not a total lost i like to walk him in the mornings or afternoon so the kids can pet him he loves to mingle and socialize.
My husband teaches, so though we are kid-less, our dogs are still going through withdrawal.
Not looking forward to the return of school, but only for the increased traffic on my commute!
Back to school means cooler weather, so I am all for it!

Not looking forward to school with the traffice. Such a cute giveaway. My golden loves those busy bones! They are a staple in my house.
I live next to a high school and I’m not looking forward to back to school because that means my peaceful summer is over. On the other hand, I’m excited for fall, apple picking, pumpkin pie, sweaters and boots!

I’m not looking forward to “back to school” because as a vet tech student.. my classes are in quarters. So I never got a summer break! It’s really frustrating to hear everyone complain about having to go back to school when I’ve been hard at it all year. 🙁 My two dogs are super sad and depressed because they rarely see me! Thank God for my fiance, he does all the work/playtime with them.

This is great!

What a great giveaway! My babies need some extra special treats when I get home after a long day of work. They would love these 🙂
I’m looking forward to back to school as it means fall is almost here!
Back to school means quiet time at my job (watching kids). Summer is so much busier! Busy treats are the treat of choice at our house because they are so chewy. Becky
