Guest Post: There’s no such thing as a free pet AND Lickety Sticks Giveaway!

November 13, 2011 by Dr. V

And don't we know it! This is exactly how pets wind up flooding shelters and lions end up at places like Lions, Tigers and Bears. This hour's guest post comes from Jim Tedford at PetSafe. If you survive the zombie apocalypse, you may find yourself looking for a new pet over the holidays, as do many of us. As Jim notes, "free" rarely means "free." By Jim Tedford, Director of Pet Identification, PetSafe.net. To be honest, I don’t remember much from my college Economics class. But I do ... Read more »

The Gruesome Belen Marketplace: Guest Post

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

This hour's guest post comes from Dr. Patrick Mahaney, who if you recall was with me on my Amazon Cares adventure to Peru earlier this year. I thought this post showing the horrors we encountered in the Belen Marketplace was more than fitting for this blogathon horror theme. There was some crazy stuff there. I will echo his warning that the photos are graphic. Warning! This article contains graphic descriptions and photos of slaughtered wildlife. On my final day on my vets abroad trip to ... Read more »

Calming Collar Giveaway!

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

Deb Mendez at Calming Collars has been a supporter of the pawcurious blogathons since the very first one waaaay back in 2009. She's donated collars, been a supporter, and helped out in more ways than I can count. Thank you Deb! Her all natural calming collar was clicked on Koa for the first 3 months she lived with us. Hers was a lower level anxiety, fortunately, and when she was wearing the collar at work she would quietly slip under a desk and snooze. Plus, it made her smell just ... Read more »

How to survive a dogpocalypse

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

Let's review a couple of important tips for making sure you and your pet are reunited in case of a zombie apocalypse, or perhaps simply the holidays. Because once Aunt Gretel gets a few glasses of nog in her, it can be hard to tell the difference, I know. And more than one dog has burst out into the cold night trying to escape the frightening clutches of an overeager great-uncle with a fondness for labradors. Is your identification up to date? And is it even on? Lots of people ... Read more »

Meet your Meat-Eaters: Tiger Edition

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night,  What immortal hand or eye  Could frame thy fearful symmetry? -William Blake   Thank God we didn't feed them this morning because we have some fresh zombie-meat that wandered in after Amanda. And yes, I crossbow'ed that walker right between the eyes. Raja stretching, waiting for some 'nip. When Raja and Natasha were rescued, it was discovered Natasha was pregnant, which is how LTB also wound up with Sitara and Tabu. A ... Read more »

Guest Post: Pudgy and Pals

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

As we know, heart pets come in all shapes and sizes. This hour, my friend Heather Wilson shares how her heart pet Pudgy changed her life and led her to write her very first book celebrating diversity. I love Pudgy and Pals!   A bearded dragon changed my life. Five years ago had you told me I’d utter those words and mean them so fervently, I’d tell you that you lie like a rug. I met Pudgy for the first time after walking up a stairwell filled with darkness. Seems so ominous, I ... Read more »

Dusk

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

Amanda Brown is here keeping me company. It's good to have another seasoned vet here, you know, since the AVMA has endorsed vets as a top choice in any zombie apocalypse survival team. I'm really glad she's here, because things just got real over here, y'all. Dr. Brown, Skyping a zombie giraffe picture to Dr. Finch. A good time is being had by all. Dr. V: Did you just say 'Braaaaaiiiins'? Dr. Brown: No....(looks up) Get me a rabies pole. Looks like we've got a visitor. Dr. V: I ... Read more »

Gimme the nip

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

We're feeding the cats their catnip right now. It's the best way to get them primed for zombie eating. Just so you know I'm drenched, muddy, freezing, and a tiger just tried to pounce on my head and my fingers are a little too numb to type more than this. Right after this Sitara pounced on the chainlink and tried to eat my face. I believe there is video of me screaming and scrambling backwards. So please consider a donation to LTB! 6 packs 9 lives shirtless man calendar giveaway up next! ... Read more »

The Coming Zombie Apocalypse- But First, a Word about my Vets.

November 12, 2011 by Dr. V

This hour's guest post comes from the brilliant and hysterical Susi Szeremy over at KnobNotes. She's not only really, really funny, she's my Yoda when it comes to the world of breed enthusiasts. As a breeder of Pulik, this woman knows her stuff. Today she shares a reminiscence of how her vets allow her to be part of the health management process for her beloved pets. I'm honored to have been asked to write a guest post for Pawcurious for so worthy of an event as Blogpocalypse.  I, myself, ... Read more »
