Live from Vegas: Pet Products You’ve Got To See

July 25, 2014 by Dr. V

FTC Disclosure: featured products provided review product and/or compensation for inclusion in the Product Spotlight. If you’ve ever been to a trade show, you know how easy it is to get overwhelmed. A pet show like SuperZoo is an utter cacophony of sounds, sights, and row after row of many things that all look the same after an hour: treats and collars, treats and collars, rinse, repeat. It’s hard for products to stand out in a crowd like that, but when Dr. Andy Roark and I hit the ... Read more »

SuperZoo- Trends for Fall

September 17, 2012 by Dr. V

Another day, another Vegas conference. I don't what it is about Vegas, but even when I go for work and behave and don't stay out late and don't do anything more titillating than eating nachos at 11 at night in the 24 hour cafe, I still come back feeling like Axl Rose after an all night bender. I guess this is what getting older does to you, when the simple act of walking around a convention floor all day wipes you out. Nonetheless, it was a good show. I have to say, there was nothing ... Man oh man, I have been so remiss on the blog this week. In my defense, I have been running around at SuperZoo all week, checking out new cat and dog stuff and in general thinking and talking about pets for three days straight, but I've had so little time in my room to post about it as the good folks at the convention center weren't in the mood to provide wifi to us writing types. C'est la vie. It was great and I saw some of my favorite people, and got to meet some new favorite people, and I got ... Read more »

Surf and Spokes and Supers

September 10, 2012 by Dr. V

Surf OK, so first things first- yes, we surfed in our first competition and no, we didn't win (the well deserved honors went to the always amazing Surf Dog Ricochet, as it should.) I will be posting about it when I get back later this week and I have the rest of the pictures. I always had a ton of respect for the So Cal Surf Dog group, but after seeing them in action in competition I love them all even more. As busy as everyone was with their own dogs, many of whom were in multiple heats, I saw ... Read more »

SuperZoo Product Picks!

September 16, 2011 by Dr. V

I've spent the last 4 days in Vegas, feverishly taking notes on what's up and coming in pet products at the annual SuperZoo pet retailer convention. The expo floor was this massive labyrinth of pet foods, toys, grooming supplies, software, treats...you get the picture. Every time I thought I covered the floor there was some alley or other that I had missed and more goodies to check out. Cat scratching posts from Imperial Cat. I love cardboard scratchers- I think cats really do prefer them. I ... Read more »
