Good thing they didn’t name her “Yellow Belly”

January 5, 2010 by Dr. V

Did you all hear about this hero dog Angel? An 18 month old Golden Retriever saved her 11 year old little boy buddy from a cougar in their backyard. No, not a Courteney Cox kind of cougar, a real, live, scary growly wildcat. Just look at that sad, yet strangely happy face. I dare you not to say "Awwww!" She's saying, "Yep, I sure did show that silly old cat, didn't I? Golly!" Left side: mauled. Right side: could care less. I'm not saying Goldens are always the brightest bulb in the ... Read more »

Some things never change…

January 1, 2010 by Dr. V

A new year. A new decade. Same old tricks. When the future looms unpredictable and uncertain, there is much comfort to be garnered from our old favorite routines. Happy New Year- may it bring more of that you love and none of that you are happy to leave behind. ... Read more »

This page is looking lonely and sad

December 23, 2009 by Dr. V

The videocasts were shot a year ago and I'm wondering if they ever will see the light of day. There was some good stuff in there. If they ever get finished, I'll be sure to put them up. In the meantime, stay tuned for BRODY CAM, which should be launched in early to mid 2010, and Podcurious- the new pawcurious podcasts, coming as soon as I figure out something to talk about. :) ... CSI: San Diego

October 23, 2009 by Dr. V

Officer, we've had reports of a serious crime at the home of Dr V. while she was out on vacation. Our forensics expert is examining the victim, one wooden toybox. It's gruesome. I've seen a lot in my years, but this one still unnerved me. How could anyone do this to a poor defenseless box? Make sure the kiddos aren't looking over your shoulder. Dear God! Can someone cover this with a sheet? We've nabbed the perp, a cocky little guy who seems to think we got nothin' on him. ... Read more »

The Accidental Veterinarian: I

March 30, 2009 by Dr. V

I want to know why, in a profession where 75 + % of the entering class is composed of women, all the veterinarian memoirs out there are written by men. Vet school memoirs are even more scarce. I find this simply unacceptable. All those doe eyed little girls out there want to know how it really happens, right? I've seen the class pictures plastered inside the dean's office going back a bajillion years, and I guarantee it isn't what it once was, back in the good old days. For a lot of ... Read more »

This is pretty nerve-wracking

February 13, 2009 by Dr. V

On Sunday, I’m meeting up with Amazing Amber (my favorite tech in the world) and shooting the first videocasts for this blog. Depending on the weather and how well I have my act together (rather grim on both accounts) we are aiming to shoot 4-6 videocasts which will then be uploaded to iTunes. I have no idea how long the post-production will take; this is kind of a learning experience for all of us. I’m going to cover a few basic topics of interest to dog and cat owners, but ...
