Hour 17: Dr. V trivia

November 7, 2009 by Dr. V

Because I need to go eat something- not dog food- and take a shower, here is a quick one.

1. I was born in Massachusetts

2. Until vet school I never owned a cat

3. My favorite color is green

4. I spent a semester in college interning at the LA CountyCoroner

5. The smell of fish makes me gag

6. I wanted to be a human doctor because I thought patients dying on me would bother me less than if I were a veterinarian

7. When I was in vet school I was planning on being a lab animal vet or researcher

8. I’ve been blogging in various formats since 2001.

9. My first pet was a Lhasa Apso. I got her when I was 8 and she died my freshman year of vet school.

Any other random questions? I’ll pick a couple to answer.

If you could change one thing about the world of veterinary medicine, what would it be?

That owners understood the commitment of owning a pet. Absolutely.

What are your thoughts around animals in research? I attended an HSUS conference this summer (and subsequently became a vegetarian), and of course that was a prevalent topic of discussion….

Oh, that’s a complex one. I will do that as a real blog post sometime.

What is your best memory of vet school?

Besides graduating? lol The time the ancient head of the hospital pulled me aside senior year to offer me an unsolicited letter of recommendation. Awesome.

What’s your favourite dish in the entire world?

caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella. To die for.

That sounds absolutely mouth-watering. Mine is a toss-up between sushi (I loves me my fish) and chicken and monterey jack chimichangas.

There were no figs in that response! Shocking to me.

The smell of fish makes you gag? You definitely didn’t want to smell that d/d salmon then. While it’s mild, it’s definitely fishy. LOL

What is your favorite aspect of being a vet?

    • Dr. V says

I know it sounds cheesy, but when someone says thank you and means it genuinely, it makes all the other stuff worth it.

Not cheesy at all… When I asked my vet that question a few months back, his answer was the same as yours.

I’d agree with you on #6.

Random question: What do you think about feeding puppy food longer than 1 year? Specifically for Xander a Great Dane?

Favorite animal? Favorite food? Favorite wine? How’d you meet your hubby? What does your human child want to be? šŸ˜‰
