December 21, 2011 by Dr. V

It's not too late to grab some last minute goodies for your pup if you're like me and still scrambling to get things together between now and Sunday! If you're still looking for some ideas or stocking stuffers, here are the products I'm featuring this morning with Santa on Fox 5 San Diego's morning segment: 1. Halo Liv-a-Littles all-natural treats Freeze-dried treats are the perfect choice for those who like an all-natural, no filler sort of treat. Just freeze-dried chicken, salmon, or beef ... SuperZoo Product Picks!

September 16, 2011 by Dr. V

I've spent the last 4 days in Vegas, feverishly taking notes on what's up and coming in pet products at the annual SuperZoo pet retailer convention. The expo floor was this massive labyrinth of pet foods, toys, grooming supplies, software, treats...you get the picture. Every time I thought I covered the floor there was some alley or other that I had missed and more goodies to check out. Cat scratching posts from Imperial Cat. I love cardboard scratchers- I think cats really do prefer them. I ... Read more »

Giveaway Tuesday: What’s in your toy chest?

July 26, 2011 by Dr. V

Congratulations to the winners: Dog pack: Jessi and Duke Cat pack: Heather T! Every pet is different when it comes to toys. Some dogs love, love, love their toys and drag them around like Linus with his blanket, dropping their slobbery offerings in your lap like a sticky love note. If the object of their affection has the misfortune to be a stuffed toy, well, the affair may be short lived. Loved to death, shall we say. ... Read more »

Giveaway Tuesday: Premier Pet Products!

June 7, 2011 by Dr. V

Congratulations to the winners: Steph B, Elizabeth, and Kathy! Despite having been around for over a decade, I am still astounded by the number of people who refer to a Gentle Leader as a muzzle. It doesn't matter that it's pink, covered in flowers, and about a centimeter wide around the muzzle of a fluffy Golden Retriever, there's still always that person who kind of edges sideways and scooches by with an apologetic "I don't want to get bit." I use it as an opportunity to teach people, of ... Read more »

Giveaway: Smiling Frog Penguin Plushie

November 13, 2010 by Dr. V

Check out this adorable handcrafted penguin plushie from the Smiling Frog Pets! I'm not sure which is cuter, the penguin or the model. :) In order to win, just take a look at the Smiling Frog store and tell me what your second favorite item is (you still just get the penguin but window shopping is fun, right?) ... Product Review: Kyjen toys

January 12, 2010 by Dr. V

When I was given the opportunity to review a selection of dog toys from the Kyjen company, Brody shot me a look that said, "You'd better take this one, lady." Not that he isn't as spoiled as they come anyway, but I'll admit the majority of his playthings are the usual easily destroyed types that I get at the store. I was already interested after so many of you raved about the line when I was looking for suggestions for the Holiday Guide, so this was a no-brainer. They sent a large assortment ... Read more »
